Ante-Natal and Birth Support

It is so important that you find a Doula with whom you have a connection. After all, they are going to be supporting you during a very important life experience.

This is why I like to meet you in person, at your home or a destination to suit you. During this first visit we will get to know one another ,and explore ways I can help you as your birth doula.

If you would prefer a telephone call or a video call, we can arrange a day and time to suit you best.

If you then chose to book me, we will arrange further visits at times to suit you (and your partner).

At least two antenatal sessions are usually necessary to prepare you both for the birth of your baby. If more sessions are required, there is no additional fee. I want you both to feel confident, knowledgeable and calm for when baby's birth day arrives.

Together, we will define and form an understanding of your hopes and expectations for your birth. I will provide you with useful tools for each stage of your pregnancy, labour and birth.

You will learn about the physiology of birth, the hormones involved, the stages of labour, comfort measures, birth choices, and so much more.

I will help you to formulate your birth preferences and will go through the options that are available to you.

From day one our relationship starts to build. You will have access to my support, knowledge and information, at any time.

I will help you to plan for the first few weeks postnatal, to ensure you can rest and recover.

You will have access to my lending library of books and films about pregnancy, birth and baby care, to support your learning. If there is a topic on which you would like more information, I will research and source the best articles or books so you get the best advise.

I will endeavour to answer any phone calls, messages or emails as soon as possible. You can contact me as often as you need to, whenever you like, as I know questions and concerns can crop up at any time! I will offer suggestions and support throughout your pregnancy.

I will be on-call from 38 weeks until baby is born, 24 hours a day.

I will stay with you to provide continuous physical, emotional and informational support, for you and your partner for the duration of labour and birth. I will help you to preserve your birth preferences and I will stay with you after the birth until you are ready for me to leave.

I can help you to initiate breast feeding immediately after baby is born. I will help baby to latch and you to feel comfortable and confident.

I can help you and your partner during the first uniquely special hour after baby is born to bond, protecting your environment so you can enjoy skin to skin time, and savour the sights and smells of your new baby.

We can arrange for me to visit in the first few days after baby's born to celebrate and re-visit the birth. I can answer any questions you may have about your birth experience. We can talk through any feeding or nurturing issues you may have.

A second visit after birth, ideally in the early few weeks can be arranged for you to discuss how you and your baby are and to help with any concerns you may have.
