WHAT IS HYPNOBIRTHING?
Hypnobirthing focuses on using words in a positive way.
As we grow and develop we learn to be fearful when faced with certain situations.
For example, we are not born with a fear of spiders but we can learn from our parents to
fear them.
In the same way fears and preconceptions around labour and birth can be learnt.
Hypnobirthing is not to be compared to hypnosis. It does not involve being put in a trance on stage and being made to perform like a chicken! (Although you may fall asleep, but don't worry, it will still be working!!)
Instead, #hypnobirthing taps into your subconscious mind. The techniques you will learn will be absorbed and become familiar.
Using the power of language, #breathingtechniques, hypnobirthing tracks, #visualisations and #affirmations, you will learn to release any fear around #pregnancy, #labour and #birth and to feel calm and confident on baby's birth day.
KATHERINE GRAVES HYPNOBIRTHING
I teach #kgh Hypnobirthing.
Hypnobirthing is taught in many different ways, from reading a book, courses on line or in person. The level of teaching varies enormously from one provider to another.
@kgh is the only course accredited by the Royal College of Midwives.
KGH is a complete #antenatal course which encompasses listening to audios, reading , twelve hours of in-person sessions, and practice, to prepare you for the best possible birth experience, however it unfolds.
The techniques learnt can also be used in every day stressful or challenging situations.
You will learn to work with your mind and body as one, to release negative thoughts and to let go of any trepidation around pregnancy and birth that you may have.
Your partner can learn along side you and be ready to help you during your labour and birth. They can also use the techniques taught in their every day life too.
WHAT DO THE SESSIONS COVER?
There are four sessions of between 2.5 and 3 hours.
You will learn how hypnobirthing works, breathing techniques, visualisations, and listen to relaxation scripts, as well as learn about physiological aspects of pregnancy and birth.
You will learn about hormones, the muscles of the uterus, pelvic floor exercises, perineal massage, the journey from early labour to birthing your placenta, the golden hour, skin to skin, and optimal cord clamping. This list is not exhaustive!
After completing the course, and importantly, if you put in the practice, you can expect to feel in control, calm and confident when it comes to your baby's birth day.
